About Ralph Papa

Ralph Papa

Ralph Papa has been drawing and painting since childhood in New York's East Harlem. In the 1960's after developing his own style, he studied art and architecture at Queens College and City College of New York and painted evenings at the Art Students League. Through the 1960's and 70's, his paintings were of larger than life pensive faces creating moods with feelings of isolation and loneliness. Over the years Papa has lightened up as seen in his studio paintings while in Tehran, Iran in 1978. Later in the 1990's he shifted to plein-air painting on-location in the New York Hudson Valley, and Hamptons and Palm Beach Florida. Spanning over 50 years, Papa's paintings present an evolved style that reflects his admiration and respect for nature...
